Keeper & creator of words

The author, Katie, walks along a rocky shore. There are waves crashing on the beach and it is windswept. She wears a black coat with a fur-lined hood and smiles to the camera. The photo is black and white.

Hello,

I’m Katie, a writer, winemaker, designer, and ocean swimmer based in the beautiful and biodiverse south-west of Western Australia. It’s a place where I can indulge my love of long-distance ocean swimming and telling stories. Creativity and authenticity are my guiding principles and if I can be salty at the same time, that’s a dream come true.

I’ve always been surrounded by words - first as a bookish kid, then as a self-published author, and now as part of my roles working for wineries in direct sales and marketing. As I focus in on these skills I find myself writing more and more to connect: people to brands, readers to meaning, and myself to the world around me.

Between the vineyards and the sea, I make stories.

My work lives in a few different places:

  • In The Masters of Words, I help small businesses and ethical brands find the language that sounds like them. Together, we write copy and content that resonates, sells gently, and builds trust.

  • With Wild Waters, I play in the space where the ocean meets art and activism, and tell the tales of this environment through the eyes of an ocean swimmer.

  • And in Provisioning a Sailboat, I take action to save a book from landfill, while offering a thoughtful collection of books, tea, art, and trinkets to inspire or accompany you on your own journey.

Each project is different, but they all come from the same place: a deep love of words and a desire to make our world a tiny bit better every day.

So come in, stay a while.

You can subscribe to Wild Waters for more creative writing, visit the shop to provision your own sailboat, or get in touch to talk about copywriting. I’d love to hear from you.

A gentle swell crashed over a stony beach. It is late afternoon light and a little bit milky. The sky is heavy with clouds.
The view is over the edge of a cliff, down to a rocky shore. There are native plants with yellow flowers clinging to the sides of the cliff and an angry ocean of teal at the bottom.
Footprints on a sandy beach. Late afternoon sunshine, some rocks that look warm and a steel-blue sea. The sky is clear.
